Lindsay McCoy is an award winning and Emmy nominated journalist from Northeast Ohio. 

 

You can join McCoy weeknights on 21 News at 5 p.m. on 21 WFMJ, a one hour newscast filled with several live interviews and local news.

 

McCoy also moderates the 21 News Political Panel.

 

She joined the 21 News team in 2012 as a weekday multimedia journalist. McCoy previously worked at 1590 WAKR in Akron, where she was the weekday morning drive news anchor. She started her career at 1590 WAKR/Rubber City Radio group as a weekend morning anchor, weekday reporter, producer of their streaming station and anchor of the AkronNewsNow.com vodcast.

 

Her professional journalism experience also includes working for AOL’s Patch network as a local editor and as a co-anchor for three years on the WVIZ/PBS weekly program “NewsOhio”.

 

Lindsay is known for covering local politics. In 2016, she traveled with Ohio Governor John Kasich across the country to several states during the Presidential primary race. She went on to cover President Trump’s 2016 campaign and his inauguration. During Decision 2024, she conducted interviews with local and state candidates during the 5 Minutes @ 5 segments on 21 News at 5 p.m.

 

While working in Akron, McCoy covered several high profile stories including the murder of Jessie Marie Davis, the Donna Moonda trial, Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic's recall election and the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections.

McCoy is a Stow, Ohio native and proud graduate of Kent State University’s school of Journalism and Mass Communication.

 

In her free time, McCoy enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, dance classes and visiting the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

 

She was named Best Anchor by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors in 2020, and earned second place for her anchoring in 2023.
